Liberty Silver

Liberty Silver’s illustrious career in the music industry has left an indelible mark, crowned by multiple “Juno” and “Grammy” (collaboration) awards that serve as a testament to her exceptional talent. Her journey to stardom began on the iconic US-based TV show “Star Search,” where she was discovered by the legendary Ed McMahon.

A trailblazer in her own right, Liberty Silver made history by becoming the first black woman to receive a Juno Award. Her Grammy triumph, achieved through her stirring performance on the charity single “Tears Are Not Enough,” dedicated to famine relief in Ethiopia, saw her collaborate with a stellar lineup of Canadian luminaries in the group known as “Northern Lights.” This constellation of talent included Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray, Joni Mitchell, Burton Cummings, Bryan Adams, Neil Young, and others. Their anthem, “Tears Are Not Enough,” also found its place on the Grammy Award-winning “We Are The World” album, further solidifying Liberty Silver’s place among music’s elite.

Liberty Silver’s illustrious career extends beyond awards and accolades, as she has graced the stage with iconic figures such as US President Barack Obama, performed alongside Bob Marley at Madison Square Garden, and shared moments with luminaries like Maya Angelou, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Celine Dion, The Temptations, Oscar Peterson, Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, and former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev.

With a diverse repertoire that spans multiple genres, including R&B, Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Soul, Rock, Country, and Gospel, Liberty Silver’s studio recordings have reached millions of listeners worldwide, with some achieving multi-platinum status, particularly in the realm of dance music.

Her stage presence has enraptured audiences worldwide at renowned events like the Antigua Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, Jamaican Air Canada Jazz Festival, Niagara Jazz Festival, TRIUS Jazz Festival, Oakville Jazz Festival, Waterloo International Jazz Festival, Barbados Jazz Festival, The Beaches Jazz Festival, Orangeville Jazz Festival, Richmond Hill Jazz Festival, and Hillebrand Jazz Festival, among others. Notably, Liberty Silver graced the Grand Opening of the Skydome (now Rogers Centre) in Toronto, sharing the stage with legends Oscar Peterson and David Clayton Thomas.

Beyond her musical prowess, Liberty Silver’s versatility shines through as she co-hosted the televised World Basketball Championship ceremony alongside TV Star Alan Thicke and co-wrote the event’s theme song. She also carved her niche as the host of her own TV series, “Centre Stage Chronicles,” and played a pivotal role in co-writing and performing the official theme songs for the 1996 Atlanta, Georgia, and 2004 Athens, Greece Olympic Games. In a career spanning decades, Liberty Silver’s impact on the world of music and entertainment is nothing short of extraordinary.
